Design Highlights
(1) Textured Craftsmanship
Utilizing a hand-splashed ink and glaze firing process, the blue and white glaze flows and blends naturally at high temperatures, creating unique spots and stripes. Each bowl's texture is unique, reminiscent of a Japanese ink painting, imbuing the tableware with artistic warmth and a unique, unrepeatable quality.
(2) Color Combination
The off-white clay base is accented with splashes of blue and white ink, complemented by a rustic black rim, creating a distinct and harmonious color palette. The blue and white symbolize natural tranquility, while the black rim enhances the retro feel, complementing interior styles such as wabi-sabi and natural wood.
(3) Design
The bowl is shaped like a shallow bamboo hat, with a wide opening and a narrow bottom for easy access. The curved shape fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, and the bowl's subtle texture preserves the warmth of handcrafting, creating a rustic and non-slip finish, combining practicality with aesthetics. Materials and Craftsmanship
(I) Material Analysis
We use coarse clay, which has a thick texture and good breathability. It dissipates heat slowly when holding hot food (preventing scalding) and resists condensation when holding cold food. Natural clay is lead-free and cadmium-free, meeting food contact safety standards, and delivering a natural and healthy dining experience.
(II) Craftsmanship Details
Hand-thrown: Craftsmen hand-throw the pottery. The curvature and texture of each bowl reflect the artist's meticulous attention to detail, distinguishing it from the uniformity of machine-made bowls.
Glazing and Firing: Hand-glazed (or dipped), the blue and white glaze flows freely, creating a splashed ink effect. Firing at temperatures exceeding 1200°C fully fuses the glaze with the clay, creating a firm, resistant texture.
Grinding and Trimming: After firing, the rim and bottom of the bowl are polished to remove burrs, ensuring safe use while retaining some traces of handwork and enhancing the wabi-sabi quality. IV. Set Specifications
Large Bamboo Bowl: Diameter approximately 18cm, height approximately 7cm, suitable for ramen and large soups.
Medium Bamboo Bowl: Diameter approximately 16cm, height approximately 6.5cm, suitable for mixed noodles and salads.
Small Bamboo Bowl: Diameter approximately 14cm, height approximately 6cm, suitable for side dishes, desserts, and snacks.
Usage and Care
(I) Usage Precautions
Avoid sudden changes in temperature (e.g., cooling directly into ice water after serving hot soup). Coarse clay has a high coefficient of thermal expansion and contraction, which can easily cause cracking.
Do not use steel wool to scrub. The coarse clay glaze has fine pores, and scrubbing with hard objects can easily clog the pores and damage the texture. Use a soft sponge or cloth.
(II) Cleaning and Maintenance
Daily Cleaning: Gently wipe with warm water and neutral detergent. Rinse and air dry. Clay is breathable and does not easily retain water stains or odors. Regular maintenance: Wipe the bowl with olive oil or walnut oil every month, massage gently and wipe dry. This can nourish the clay, enhance the gloss and strengthen the rustic texture.
